The minimum levels required for entry to the Certificate 4 and Diploma courses offered by PIBT are outlined below. Not all qualifications or countries are listed and students with other qualifications should send details for assessment. Students who have completed professional qualifications such as the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Diploma (LCCI) are eligible for entry to PIBT.

Mature Age Entry:

Mature age students (20 years of age and over) may be admitted to the Certificate 4 or Diploma courses without meeting the formal academic qualifications if they have relevant work experience and other acceptable qualifications.

English Language:

The medium of instruction for all courses taught at PIBT is English. International students must be able to demonstrate English Language proficiency before being permitted to enter one of our courses. This can be met by obtaining one of the results shown in the table below.

A non-credit English Support Unit will be available each semester. Students may choose to enrol in this unit voluntarily or enrolment may be imposed as a prerequisite or corequisite to other units of study. The unit is free of charge and will be delivered for three hours per week between Weeks 3 and 11 of each semester. The unit also includes a component on Study Skills.

Bridging English:

Some students may be required to sit for the PIBT English Language test at Orientation. This is a test of reading and writing skills and will help identify students in need of special assistance. Our Academic Skills Advisers work with students to help overcome any academic problems.
